The mission of the NMHEA is to honor, promote, present and preserve the New Mexico Hispanic performer, group or entertainment entity; and to preserve and promote Hispanic cultures in New Mexico; both in the traditional sense of our elders and the contemporary sense of our youth.

Board of Directors President- Joy (Baca) Gutierrez Joy M (Baca) Gutierrez is a native of Albuquerque, NM, where she was born and raised. Joy has always been involved in music, events and performing arts since the age of three recording songs in her father’s recording studio and singing for family. At five years old, Joy began performing Ballet and also sang her first song in church with her father’s guitar accompaniment. She continued performing as a vocalist with her father for wedding ceremonies and receptions at the age of ten and continued through age twelve. Joy then continued performing in dance and began performing in cheerleading and drill team until she was sixteen which was when Joy began a professional musical career singing in a local variety band, “Crossroads”. Attending Albuquerque Public Schools, Joy graduated from the Valley Academy of Valley High School. Joy obtained in September 2003 a Payroll Accounting Certification from CNM and began attending the University of Phoenix where she obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration in December 2008, a Master's of Science in Accountancy in June of 2010 and a Master’s of Science in Business Administration in November 2011. In February 2008 Joy became new mom of a baby girl and is married now for six years, to her high school sweetheart of eighteen years. Joy has been local business owner since 2004 and is a company Partner of Crossroads Enterprises, LLC in New Mexico and Arizona; a family owned and operated business. The company obtains three divisions including Audio Visual, Media and Music. The LLC Corporation is the Parent Company of Heritage Audio Visual, New Mexico Event & Wedding Planner Magazine, Arizona Event & Wedding Planner Magazine, CR music & entertainment, CR Records and Crossroads. Joy also is involved with various organizations including the Association of Bridal Consultants, the Albuquerque Hispano Chamber of Commerce, the Albuquerque Convention and Visitors Bureau, the Academy of Tejano Artists and Musicians, the Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences Texas Chapter. Joy’s continued efforts with her business and musical career took notice by a key individual in the community and by November 2007 Joy obtained the President’s seat of the New Mexico Hispano Entertainers Association. Through her continued efforts in the community Joy gained the recognition of Governor Bill Richardson that she was appointed for a seat as a commissioner for the New Mexico Music Commission in June 2009. Born in Las Vegas, New Mexico, Loretta moved to Albuquerque, NM in 1980. While growing up in Las Vegas, Loretta was very active in music throughout her mid-high and college years. An All State singing contestant, and touring throughout New Mexico, Colorado and Arizona in her high school years, Loretta was helping promote bilingual education in schools through music. She was a member of the group West Side Singers (West Las Vegas High School) and the group Celebration (New Mexico Highlands University). Music started in her family in the early 1900 with her grandfather, father, brothers, and cousins, which are currently teaching or have retired or have become doctors in the music industry throughout New Mexico. Loretta managed her daughters for many years. Las Florecitas (Thee Twinz) continue the Romero tradition with singing and touring throughout the United States and parts of Mexico. Loretta has taken a career of law and is currently getting ready to retire with 25 years of service with the State of New Mexico, Second Judicial District Attorney’s Office, in Albuquerque New Mexico. She has also been an active volunteer reserve officer with the Valencia County Sheriff’s Department. She is active member of the Tejano Academy, Academy of Tejano Artists and Musicians and the Texas Talent Musicians Association. Loretta is very active in the community, involved with local associations, (Vecinos Del Bosque, Five Points Association, Neighborhood Watch Association, and is also one of the original founders of the New Mexico Hispano Entertainers Association in 1998.
